 Gus Karpes,
Gus has called the Yukon home for almost 40 years many of which were spent at Lake Laberge made famous through poet Robert Service's Cremation of Sam McGee.
There is a large window in the workshop that overlooks the marge of Lake Laberge - to borrow a line from the poem. When creating the wooden product shown here, the restful view is a great inspiration.
Each item is carefully handcrafted by Gus and personalized with a signature and date.

Item No. W3 - Our special outhouse
Our most popular item! Open the door on this item and it literally explodes with roof, side and back walls flying off in every direction. Opening the door triggers the release on a standard mousetrap, which starts the action. It is 4" square at the base and 7" high at the front roof edge. It is constructed of various plywood products, is hand-burned and lacquer finished. A ¼ moon is hand painted on the door and a separate small, wooden plaque with the name "Yukon" is glued above the door. It is truly a conversation piece and a barrel of laughs for the whole family. We've even heard of a house cat getting addicted to opening the door.
"Touch the doorknob of the biffy and try it yourself."
For an additional charge of $10.00, the little house can be personalized with any name of your choosing placed above the door instead of the name Yukon.
Cost $19.95 Canadian funds plus P&H and taxes where applicable.
