If you don't see what you want - what is it and we'll try to find it for you
Yukon artist Jim Robb has been sketching, painting and photographing his way around the Yukon for more than 40 years. His favorite subjects are what he refers to as the colorful five percent of the historical buildings and people of the territory. His art preserves the images of pioneer people and structures that made the Yukon what it is today. Many of his sketches and painting have been published in limited edition prints.
The four and two storey log skyscrapers of Whitehorse are a favorite subject with Jim. We have transferred his artistic perception of the structures onto a number of chinaware items which are sold exclusively through our Skyscraper Trading Post which itself is located on the bottom floor of the two storey building.
The image on the chinaware items is in brown and is permanently kilnfired for lasting quality. The gold trimmed items are not microwavable.
JR1 - One of Jim's most popular paintings done in 1991 depicts the Skyscraper after which our store is named. This has been reproduced as an art card, which we have framed in Lake Laberge driftwood. Framed size is approximately 8" X 11" (20cm X 28cm approx) Picture displayed is approximately 8" X 5".
A brief personal history of the artist and the artwork is displayed on the back of the picture.
JR2 - Chinaware spoon rest. Approximately 9" high (approx 23cm.) Portrays the double Skyscraper image above. Can also be hung as a decorative item.
JR3- This kiln-fired 9oz mug is 4" high. The skyscraper image is clear and almost 3" high. The rim of and the handle are tastefully trimmed in gold. A must for mug collectors.
JR4 - The chinaware bell is a new item to us this year. It stands 5-1/2" high (14cm approx.). The image is as portrayed above but has a yellow moon added.
JR5 - A truly unique set of shakers. They are 3" high with the image almost totally covers one side of the shakers. A must for collectors.
JR6 - The image on this 6" square trivet or decorative tile is about 4-1/2" X 4-1/2. It is corked on the back and also comes with its own hanger. Makes a great wall decoration.
JR7 - This 6" collector plate is not only a great souvenir of the Yukon but makes a great decorative item. It is attractively trimmed in gold. The image is centered on the plate and is approximately 3" high.
JR8 - This colorful chinaware plate was fired in Canada especially to commemorate the anniversary of the Klondike Gold Rush of 1898. It depicts Jim Robb's version of an old Klondike Miner's cabin as it may have looked and for that matter still looks today. The lettering and rim of the 8" (20-1/2 cm) plate is done in gold.
